    The Bucket List

The other day my sister and I went to see the movie The Bucket List. Well the movie projectors broke in the middle of the movie so we didn't get to see the end of the movie (and won't be able to until I get back to the States). But we liked the idea of a bucket list. So here is ours. In no particular order.

    Skydiving and Bungee Jumping

Go on a Safari in Africa

    Climb on the Pyrimads

Walk at least a mile of the Great Wall

    Swim with Dolphins

    Experience Weightlessness

    Go Camping

Go down class 3 (at least) white water rapids

Learn how to play a stinged instrument

Learn a classical masterpiece on the piano

    Hike in the Himalayas

    Scuba dive and see fish

Make a vase using a wheel

    Do an oil painting

Walk a mile in someone elses shoes

    Snowboard down a Green square

Stand up while water skiing (for my sister) Go outside the wake while water skiing (for me)

Learn how to ride a bike (for my sister)

Learn how to drive a manual (for me)

Change the oil in a car without any help

Inline skate with a fanny pack in a public location near the beach (and be seen by at least 50 people)

    Have something published

    Do closed course stunt driving

    Memorize the Bible

Ballroom dance at a formal dance

    Lead a Bible Study

    Ride on a dog sled

    Lick a live moose

    See a penguin in Antartica

    Go to all the continents

Hold up Piza, Ride a Gondela, See Pompoii, Make the pigons fly in Rome (and kick one) (We're going to Italy in a few weeks)

  • Olympics in Chicago?

Today it was decided that Chicago recieved the USA’s bid for hosting the olympics in 2016.

     My thoughts: Oh Crap!

I live a little ways outside of Chicago, but close enough to recieve the Chicago News. It seems like there’s already been an endless supply of news stories created about this possible oppritunity for Chicago. I mean it is exciting and all. But the stories have already gotten old to me.

I was hoping that LA would get the bid so that the news stories would end here in Chicago. But I’m not that lucky.

I was reading an article about Chicago winning the bid when I found this quote, “”It’s just beginning,” said Patrick Ryan, Chicago’s bid committee chairman. “It’s a long road.”" (http://sports.aol.com/news/articles/_a/usoc-picks-chicago-as-2016-bid-city/20070414133609990001?cid=2194).

Oh man, it’s just the beginning of the news stories.

Knowing Chicago, there’s plenty of contraversy and talk about nothing ahead. I guess I just have to prepare myself and grin and bear it, because the decision about which city will actually host the games in 2016 won’t come until October of 2009.

    why do i avoid achieving?

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

    -Akeelah and the Bee

ok. More appropriately attributed to Marianne Williamson from A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles.
